Job Title: Senior Secured Funding Accountant

Job Introduction

To meet strong mortgage growth our wholesale funding requirements are growing, and we are well set to fulfil our ambition of becoming a top 10 UK lender. As Senior Secured Funding Accountant your influence and impact within Group Treasury goes well beyond the job title. You will play a key transaction management and accounting role in helping us maintain the Society’s secured funding from the €7.5bn Covered Bonds Programme and Darrowby Securitisations.

With total assets approaching £30 billion and growth outstripping many of our building society peers, your role involves:

Managing the existing bonds in issuance whilst keeping pace with accounting standards and innovation
Help develop systems and processes to handle many more funding deals over the next few years
Ability to keep pace with market developments, bringing ideas and expertise into the business, and turning problems into practical solutions delivery

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with vision, drive, great technical skills and logical thinking capability. You’ll influence direction as part of a highly committed and capable capital markets team and ultimately the Group Treasury function. You will be working closely with our Head of Capital Markets and Group Treasurer.

Ideal Candidate

Essentials:

  • Accountancy Background
  • Treasury Background

We are looking for someone with a recognised Treasury or Accounting qualification with ideally some Secured Funding / Treasury / Capital Markets knowledge and experience. You’ll have a strong accounting practitioner view on the market, logical thought process and the technical ability (financial forecasting, advanced excel, Treasury management systems) and have a focus for driving efficiencies in order develop your role.

Knowledge of Finance Change programmes is desirable; along with an ability to interpret elements of the legal and transactional documentation supporting Treasury instruments e.g. Covered Bonds or Securitisations. An agile and collaborative working style, with an ability to influence, engage and work in partnership with senior stakeholders, will be key to success in this role.

Location: Based from home with required travel to West Yorkshire twice per Month candidates will be considered from: Skipton, Burnley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, Bradford, Harrogate, Wakefield, Huddersfield, Halifax, York, Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield, Preston.
