Senior Financial Data Scientist
Location: Skipton (Home working options)
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week – Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm
Salary: Up to circa £50k
As part of our Group Treasury Accounting team you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the models that value Society assets and liabilities, in particular the model used to value the Equity Release mortgage assets.
We’re looking for an individual with a technical mind who has a relevant accountancy qualification and modelling experience to join this analytical, trusted and agile team.
In this role you’ll have the flexibility to plan your own workloads as you will work autonomously to deliver team and departmental priorities. You will undertake a range of analytical activities to evaluate appropriate techniques, interpret the outcomes of these and provide relevant recommendations.
As well as completing the analysis and making recommendations, you will also evaluate and establish data sources to ensure analysis is undertaken on relevant and appropriate data. You’ll develop the tools, techniques and procedures relating to forecasting and valuation modelling activities using a range of software such as Excel/SAS/Python.
This role also gives you exposure to our Executive Committee and our Model Governance Committee as you will lead the production of the analysis and papers in order to support commercial decisions.
As well as having a relevant accountancy qualification, you will also be able to understand, interpret and manipulate data and turn your analysis into real solutions and recommendations. You will have a working knowledge of Excel and an understanding/willingness to learn other relevant modelling software such as SAS.
As well as having technical knowledge, you will also have the interpersonal skills needed to be able to communicate complex technical information in a clear and concise manner. You will feel comfortable working with a range of stakeholders to help influence decisions using data and analytics. The key competencies for this role are:
