Service Charge Accountant

6 months Fixed Term Contract

Our client is the leading independent property consultancy in the UK offering agency and professional advice across Commercial, Residential and Rural sectors.

Our clients Commercial Property Asset Management department have a vacancy for a temporary service charge accountant to provide support to the accounts partners and client accounts team. The role is to complete service charge reconciliations including dealing with any external audit queries on the reconciliations as well as providing support to the client accounts teams by assisting with some of their day-to-day tasks. The vacancy is based in our Leeds office but is expected to involve working from home in the immediate future.

We are looking for an organised, driven, energetic, problem solver who can hit the ground running. They need to have a proven track record of delivering to a high standard in line with all set deadlines. Following a change of property management system in September 2019 we are looking for someone with good excel and system skills to assist us in completing the service charges which involve reviewing the data from both the old and new systems and therefore requires significant attention to detail.

Duties/Responsibilities

Service Charge Accounting:

Knowledge and experience of preparing service charge reconciliations for commercial buildings and performing service charge reviews. Preparing service charge Cash Reconciliations where applicable.

Understanding and experience of using different recoverability’s e.g. different recoverability for Demised Electricity

Accounting:

Technical accounting knowledge

Knowledge of identifying and posting accrual and prepayments as required

Knowledge & Experience of service charge reporting in the property sector – RICS Service Charge code

Work with:

Client accountants

Purchase ledger

Surveyors, Facility Management, On-site staff, Associates, Partners

Systems

Experience in using property management software is essential, knowledge of the following specific systems is desirable:

  • Horizon
  • Yardi Propware
  • Yardi Voyager
  • Proficient Microsoft Excel & Word skills
