Bookkeeper Role Overview

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Bookkeeper/Accounts Assistant to join a reputable company based near Knowsley. You will be working in a small accounts team, reporting into the company director.

Bookkeeper Responsibilities:

  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations on a timely basis ensuring all transactions are allocated and understood.
  • Monthly and Weekly Reporting to management
  • Prepare bank payment runs and reconciliations.
  • Maintain ledgers in Sage for management and statutory accounting requirements.
  • Credit Control – Chasing debtors and ensuring balances are collected on a timely basis or appropriately escalated.
  • Preparation of the VAT returns.
  • Pay creditors on a timely basis ensuring cashflow of the business is managed on a daily basis.
  • Process payroll on a timely basis.
  • Work with the business to resolve credit control issues, to ensure that our debtor days are as low as possible, focusing on working capital.
  • Supporting Directors with month end reporting.
  • Keeping Sage up to date.

Bookkeeper Experience Required

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar accounts/bookkeeping role
  • Experience using Sage 50
  • Must have experience in Payroll
  • AAT or equivalent qualification – Desirable
  • Good level of IT skills. Proven experience of Excel spreadsheets
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent time management
